This show was judged by UK judge Frank Kane. I was delighted to see Frank Kane again as I had showed Bouvier Des Flandres dogs to him at his previous judging assignment here. Frank Kane with two of my Bouvier Des Flandres

He is an extremely knowledgeable and a top UK judge. I regard him as a judge who is also friendly and polite to exhibitors and is also a judge who tries to help exhibitors by passing on his knowledge of dogs.

He did meet with exhibitors and interested persons after the show where he used, as models, some of the local dogs which came with their owners to the discussion and video presentation he gave on the structure and movement of dogs. Judges when they go over dogs with their hands can usually predict the dogs’ movement, based on the structure of the dogs and this point was reinforced by his presentation.

Frank Kane is approved to judge and award Challenge Certificates to over 100 different breeds in the UK. He is approved to judge all of the groups shown in Barbados such as the Toy, Terrier, Gundog, Hound, Utility, and Working and, of course, Best in Show. Just a few of our breeds in the show ring, that he is not yet approved to award Challenge Certificates to in the UK, but he is approved to judge their groups. Fewer than 60 dogs in the ring for him to critique, along with a few entries in the variety classes.

Of course, a judge judges the dog on the day of the show but it is interesting to look back at some of the critiques done by different judges of the same dogs.

We are missing the lovely pix. taken by my friend Franz Phillips, and also Alex Phillips, who were at the show but did not take any pix. and I also missed Tramaine Worrell and his camera. The group pix. I took but with a small camera as I had the Tibetan Terrier with me who had return to the ring for group judging. Hence, no pix. of the Utility winners.

Below is Frank Kane’s critique of the dogs he judged in Barbados on November 17, 2013.
