Lovely line up of dogs and it did have some of my favourite breeds such as The Puli, Scottish Deerhound, Scottish Terrier and the Giant Schnauzer. The Giant Schnauzer shown was the USA’s number one show dog.<\/p>\n
It’s a “wow” to realise that the dog which won Westminster 2009 is 10 years old.\u00a0 (I believe that is equivalent to 70 years old in human years!} “Stump” is the oldest ever Best in Show Westminster winner and he reportedly came out of retirement just last week! “Stump” is a Sussex Spaniel. This is one of the breeds that it is said can live to 15 years.\u00a0 It is also considered a “rare breed”.<\/p>\n
Comparing Westminster and Crufts, I find the US handlers get a lot more animation out of their dogs.<\/p>\n
And, the show was still sponsored by Pedigree which has pulled out from Crufts, UK.<\/p>\n
And the show was still televised as usual although P (and I don’t plan to spelt out their name to give them another link) did try to stop it and failing that did a protest demonstation.<\/p>\n
The Kennel Club UK, is undergoing all kinds of changes – the USA can still dock tails and have not allowed themselves to be bossed around by the RSPCA, P— or otherwise.<\/p>\n
And, as far as I know, their breed standards have not changed either.\u00a0 Good for them.<\/p>\n
