The first time Jeff Horswell judged dogs in Barbados was on October 9, 2011, at a Barbados Kennel Club’s All Breed Championship Dog Show.
He told me that he had, however, visited Barbados before his judging assignment.
Jeff is a breed specialist for Dachshund, Field Spaniel, Great Dane and Irish Wolfhound and an all rounder for other breeds. I believe he is authorised to give Challenge Certificates for approximately 70 breeds in the UK, across 6 groups.

1st – Miss S. Laynes’s KINGLISCH ICE THE CRUSHER – Promising dog, immature in body as to be expected. Well shaped head, well filled under eyes. Dark Eyes. Well made front, broad cheat. Just needs to firm in topline. Moves with a lengthy stride. CC & Reserve in Group.

1st – Mr. N. Harrison’s CH. KINGDOM’S POWERS – Masculine dog in very hard condition. Slightly short in foreface and mouth not quite right. Strong neck. Broad chest. Slightly long in back. Very good ribs. Hind angulation balances front. True mover. Res.CC.

1st – Mr. N. Harrison’s KINGDOM’S WHISKY – Really good bitch, feminine, but with plenty of strength. Well filled egg shaped head. Good neck, super front. Just a little bit long in the back. 1st – Mrs. J. Ray’s SH.CH. FENWOOD LOUIS VUITTON OF THATCHER C.D. – He has just a bit more width to him and more fill of chest. Well laid shoulder and lengthy upper arm. Holds a better topline than 2. Just a little over angulated in the rear. True out and back. CC & BOB.
2nd – Mrs. L. Husbands’ THATCHERS STORMY KNIGHT C.D. – Nice proportions and again has a very well made front. Has a good turn of stifle and low set hocks. Nice tight feet. RCC

2nd – Senator P. & Mrs. J. Gilkes’ CH. KINOLA’S CALYSTA – Workmanlike sort of a bitch who has flashes of pulling herself into a good shape. Slightly more compact than 1. Slightly plain in head. Good neck. Needs more width to chest. Topline could be better. Has good ribs. Low hocks. RCC

2nd – Mr. P. Atkinson’s CH. BALLYRIVER MILTON – Strong dog, nice proportions. Is rather short in muzzle. Very good neck. Fairly good front. Slightly upright in pastern. Ok for chest. Flat in croup and not width of thigh of 1. Moves with easy stride. RCC.

2nd – Mr. P. Atkinson’s CH. ROTTZRIDGE CELTIC PRINCESS – Pleasing head, ears a bit large. Very good neck. Chest could be better filled. Fair underline. Correct croup. Not bend in stifle as 1. RCC.

1st – Mr. R. & Mrs. A. Herbert’s YOSHI YANG – Easy moving dog once settled. Masculine head, ears could be smaller and better set. Moderate and balanced angulation. Firm topline. Just needs to body up. CC.

1st – Mr. W. Smith’s MAN OF GONDOR – Mature 5 year old dog with tendency to drop his tail. Masculine head with hooded ears. Plenty of neck. Well laid shoulder. A bit soft in topline. Would like slightly more leg for his body length. Broad chest. Super ribs. Not rear of Junior dog.

2nd – Dr. W. Welch’s ELTHOR DARK NAM – Different type dog with a tendency to look a bit boxy at times and is a bit slack in topline. Nice head, correct neck. Good width of chest.

1st – Dr. W. Welch’s CH. JUFFTHER DREAM LOVER – Quite spectacular in side gait. He really covers the ground with ease. Masculine head, maybe a bit full in cheek. Good front. Super neck. Broad chest. 2nd – Mr. R. Bascombe’s MISS LACY – Type bitch. Needs to develop in chest and firm up in topline. Good neck. Well laid shoulder. Ribs go far enough back. Strong rear, full of muscle. RCC.

1st – Miss G. Leach’s CH. SEEFELD SEA GODDESS OF WORTHINGTON – 6 year old bitch who presents a very good outline. Feminine in head, strong neck. Well made front with good fill of chest. Just a bit slack in topline now. Moderate hind angulation. But goes well. RCC.

Mrs. S. Leacock’s SH.CH. BENATONE SECRET MISSION OF THEBERTON – Grand Lab, very well made. Super head. Big ribs. Correct coat, went well, holding a level topline.
2. Mrs. J. Ray’s SH.CH. BURPHAM WINTER STORM OF THATCHER C.D. – Nice proportions on Golden Retriever. Just a bit narrow through. Slightly domed in skull. Strong neck. Keeps level topline.
