Kybo Calypso Kid, a Tibetan Terrier and new to the island attended a puppy socialisation class on October 17th.
The class, organised and held by The Barbados Dog Training Club was just for puppies to help them socialise with other dogs, people, the environment. This is so very important for puppies.
Puppy breeds such as Labrador Retriever, a Bull Terrier, a Boxer and other breeds attended the class. I understand some of the puppies like a German Shepherd and an Akita were absent.
“Teddy” the Tibetan, did great as he was not phased by anything and I think he enjoyed his first outing with other puppies and people. Kybo the Calypso Kid (Teddy) is not owned by me but I came out to help him with his class this morning. I do own a Tibetan Terrier, Ch. Araki Miss Conduct at Calliope, C.D.
Hopefully, he will attend 2 more classes with the rest of these puppies and later attend basic group training classes. I am a believer in group obedience dog training as it is important for dogs to get the opportunity to socialise with other dogs.
It is very important to socialise puppies from early and it is also important to ensure that these puppies are fully inoculated from parvo and other virus before they attend these classes as Barbados has already had a serious parvo outbreak this year.
The below pix. was taken by Zoe Marshall who has Labrador Retriever puppies which she bred on the class.
Kybo The Calypso Kid, a Tibetan Terrier, is enjoying himself exploring the Waterford world with lots of other puppies on the class.
