UK judge Robin Searle judged dogs in Barbados in 2004 and he returned this year on the invitation of The Barbados Kennel Club for their November All Breeds Championship Dog Show.
The Working Group entries and breeds shown in the Working Group have been decreasing.
Entries in the Utility Group have been encouraging with several nice Akita puppies in the ring and also new breeds.
When Robin Searle was here in 2004 he put up an imported Akita as Best in Show with a locally bred Labrador Retriever as the Reserve Best in Show and his Best Puppy in Show was a locally bred Bullmastiff.
This year his Best in Show winner was a locally bred Boxer, and his Reserve Best in Show was a locally bred Bouvier des Flandres and his Best Puppy in Show was an imported Tibetan Terrier, with the Best Locally Bred Puppy going to an Akita.
His two top winning dogs came from the Working Group. And the two top Puppy winners both came from the Utility Group.
These photos were given to me by my friend Franz Phillips.
The rain started at Waterford in the afternoon and for the group judging, the grounds were muddy and slippery and most handlers and dogs who had to return to the ring got drenched to their skins.
This was the winners’ group line up for Robin Searle’s pick for Best in Show. When he selected the Boxer who was the winner of the Working Group, the Working Group Reserve who was the Bouvier Des Flandres joined the line of the best of the group winners and Robin Searle then selected the Bouvier as Reserve Best in Show.
