Rottweiler Goes Best in Show, November 2016

Rottweiler Goes Best in Show, November 2016

This show was the final Barbados Kennel Club’s Championship All Breeds Dog Show for the year.  The judge was from Ireland and is an FCI judge. She is also approved in the UK to award Challenge Certificates in the UK to the following breeds shown at this show: Boxer, Bullmastiff, Dobermann, Great Dane. She is approved by The Kennel Club, UK, to judge all of the groups and also Best in Show.

This show took a drop in numbers and I believe this could be because several of us have puppies and would therefore be avoiding Waterford grounds where the shows are held.   Parvo and other dog sicknesses are highly contagious, especially to puppies. Any area where there a lot of dogs could put vulnerable dogs and puppies at risk.

There were no Toy entries, and no Terrier entries. Just the Rhodesian Ridgeback, with 3 individual entries, in the Hound Group. The Utility Group only had two breeds, the Japanese Shiba Inu and the Tibetan Terrier and only one dog from each breed. The Gundog group had 4 breeds, The Flat coated Retriever, The Golden Retriever, the Labrador Retriever and the Irish Setter (one of which just competed in the Veteran class).  The Working group was still well represented with 7 breeds and the bulk of the entries came from the Working Group.  My own breed, Bouvier des Flandres was absent as I currently have Tibetan Terrier puppies here. Also missing was the Russian Black Terrier which has been competing lately. The top winning dogs of this show came from the Working Group, a Rottie and a Boxer as the reserve. Both of which are locally bred.

This show was sponsored by Spartan Animal Kingdom.  243-7323 This company carries, besides dog food, a range of dog products which include grooming, training, supplements,  and playing items.
