Hi. Tks. for supplying links to info. I was seeking. Also for passing on contact info. on B/M in B’dos. That breed seems to have become very popular.
On Shepits, there are a lot of mixed breeds now in the islands which will get coined names. That is ok, we get a smile out of some and it’s done o’seas. The Shepit ad you commented on presents poor imagery. A “biting GSD” and a pit to provide “loving family protection”. The interpretation could be the combination of a nervous GSD and a pit poorly socialised which could be a disaster waiting to happen with one’s own family. On the other hand, the pups might turn out ok but the ad is terrible.
I still own and enjoy pits along with my other dogs but my pits are
socialised and trained from early. Take care.
This online store carries an excellent selection of books, on all topics besides the dog world, also cameras, and other electronic equipment.
You can search for anything through the below box:
Today’s issue of the “Sun” has it.
Here is quoting the ad: “Shepit Puppies
Trained, biting German Shepherd crossed with powerful pit.
Loving family protection. $500.00 Bds.”
I wonder what the German Shepherd is trained in, wonder what it has bitten.
“Powerful pit” as in body structure?
“Loving family protection for $500.00,”
What a laugh, the seller cannot know that. If the German Shepherd dog was trained “to bite”, it will not guarantee that its puppies will turn out to be protective of any family and its protection may not be “loving” either, especially with children.
Likewise, a “powerful pit” and a German Shepherd Dog cross may not produce a powerful looking dog.
Buyers better beware of this ad and similar type ads. Wonder if they will be snapped up by guillible people.

Not like the Labdoodle created overseas.

Michael Vick has been hired by Philadelphia Eagles for a one year contract and US $1.6 million.
He has been hired as a back up for regular quarterback Donavan McNabb as the regular back up recently was injured.
Serving a prison term which recently ended, Vick has made appearance on behalf of The Humane Society of the United States and is also supposed to be working with an animal protection group to assist in combating dog fighting.
When his dog fighting facility was raided, most of the fighting dogs were given a second chance and I believe that most of them were able to be retrained and rehomed.
I believe it would be fair to give Michael Vick a second chance again at the sport he loves and has excelled at.
I expect that some fans of the Eagles who are dog lovers will not be happy to see him on the team, and it is also possible that some of the footballers might not be too happy to have him around either.
He says he has changed but only Vick would know at this time, whether he is really sorry (or just sorry to be caught) and whether his continuing to work with groups to combat dog fighting is genuine.

Hearts on coat
It was reported that some Chihuahuas were born with an interesting and unusual heart shape on their coat.
Two of them are Heart-kun (adult) and Love-kun (puppy).
At least they would not need a microchip or tattoo to identify them if they went missing.
🙂
They live in Japan with their breeder.
Coming from an e-mail in circulation on the ‘net. Rather hilarious.
These two churches are said to face each other across a busy street.
There are varying views on whether dogs and other animals go to heaven
I really don’t know whether dogs have souls and go to heaven. But maybe they do, and then good dogs would go and their bad masters might go else where!
🙂

Below is a video of Cesar Milan and Cotton, a cute 35 lb. dog.
First time I ever heard the words “canine disarming” was this week.
Cotton, a six year old Eskimo dog was reported as having a biting problem” 🙂
And his owner after trying Cesar Milan, and other experts in the field, was still having a problem stopping Cotton from attempting to bite people.
So the owner paid for some dental treatment for Cotton. The procedure, done by laser, made the dog’s teeth blunt (the inscissors besides becoming blunt also became shorter).
Well, it was one expensive way to possibly save a pet from a worse fate. It was reported that the family had done basic obedience training with Cotton as a puppy, purchased videos and books to help train him, hired an expensive dog agression expert, changed his diet. She had also tried clicker training, pepper sprays, among other things.
A white, fluffy 35- lb. dog like Cotton would not appear to be as threatening as some of the large breeds but he was serious about trying to bite people who came on the property.
After his operation, he has not completely changed but at least he would not be able to do the same damage.
The problem with the procedure is that it physically changed the dog, but the operation did not appear to change the dog’s aggressive behaviour and its desire to bite.
He would still have some bite, so he would not be all bark.
I just wonder why they, as they obviously loved their pet, did not fence off a secure area of their grounds/home for him.
The video below is interesting as it shows Cesar Milan and Cotton. The owner said that Cotton became a good dog after The Dog Whisperer’s visit but his calm and submissive behaviour only lasted for one day.
See Cesar tame Cotton in this video:

Reading about this, you can’t help wondering where this dog started its agressive behaviour and why it did not get nipped in the bud and also why in the USA with lots of excellent trainers and experts in canine behaviour, this dog’s behaviour does not appear to be changeable.

Mandy
Mandy is lucky to have escaped from an alligator and to have a brave owner who pulled her from the jaws of death.
In Florida, where it is common for alligators to frequent ponds in neighbourhoods, a 45 lb. Wheaten Terrier, was saved by its owner from becoming an alligator’s meal.
David Grounds lost 2 fingers to the alligator but he was able to snatch his pet from the alligator’s jaws. He poked the gator in one eye and it let go of Mandy but then caught David Grounds’ hand. The fingers broke off in the gator’s mouth, and the man was freed. The 7-foot long gator (or one like it) had visited their back yard pond on several occasions but had never appeared aggressive. Animal Control officers came and caught and euthanized the gator.
After this exerience, Mandy’s walks in the back yard will be on a leash. She is the family’s treasured pet.
Having their own luxury dog house and dressing in designer duds from Jimmy Chew and Pawda, are Paris Hilton’s pets.
All kinds of toys, and their own dogs’ “villa”, complete with beds and couches. I can imagine the meals and the treats 🙂
17 Chihuahuas and 1 Pomeranian with names like “Prince Baby Bear” and “Marilyn Monroe” have their own mini dogs’ mansion, with things like air conditioning, and a chandelair.
These small dogs are popular I think because they can also be carried around so easily. You can go walking and carry your pet in a shopping bag if the journey seems long for it.
That a dog’s life for you. 🙂
